This week Crime Stoppers is asking for information on three incidents that happened in the community.

Request for Information

Request 1

The Bath Township Police Department is seeking information related to the homicide of 68-year-old Chong Yang. Mr. Yang was shot and killed while hunting in the Rose Lake State Game Area, in Bath Township, on the evening of November 16th, 2018.

The police have not located Mr. Yang’s firearm and other items that were believed to be on his person prior to his death. Those items include a Remington Model 1100 semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun that had a black stock and forearm as well as a scope. Yang also had a backpack which may contain a traditional Hmong hunting knife, snacks, ropes and other items. If anyone comes across these items or knows their whereabouts, please contact the Bath Township Police Department immediately.

If you were hunting in the Rose Lake State Game Area on November 16, 2018 and have not spoken with law enforcement, please contact the Bath Township Police Department at 517-641-6271 during business hours, or after hours contact the Clinton County Central Dispatch at 989-224-6792.

The family has posted a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Mr. Yang’s death.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the larceny of a 22 foot V-Nose trailer which was stolen from Consumers Energy Property at 9295 East Round Lake Round in Victor Township. The trailer was stolen sometime around September 23, 2019 and contained a large amount of tools belonging to PJ Steel Supply Inc. The Lansing Police Department is investigating homicide that occurred during the early morning hours of November 10th, 2019. The incident occurred in the 400 Block of East Michigan Avenue and resulted in the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Demetrius Merrill Wright and injury to another individual. Deric Eugene Earls is a 46-year-old white male who stands 6’0″ tall and weighs 212 pounds. Earls has brown hair and hazel eyes. Earls has a Felony Warrant for Criminal Sexual Conduct out of Lansing.

*** IN CUSTODY *** Jesus Miguel-Refugio Valdez is a 20-year-old Hispanic male who stands 5’7″ tall and weighs 145 pounds. Valdez has a Felony Warrant for Assault out of Lansing.

*** IN CUSTODY *** Kelley Tyrone Whitt is a 54-year-old black male who stands 6’0″ tall and weighs 220 pounds. Whitt has a Felony Warrant for Destruction of Property out of Lansing.

The Michigan State University Police Department is investigating the report of an indecent exposure and asking for your help to identify this truck and/or the person using this truck. The driver is described as a white male, mid-20s to early 30s, approximately 6’1” with a stocky build and round face. The truck is described as an older model, silver or light in color. The Lansing Police Department needs help identifying multiple subjects that robbed a Famous Taco delivery driver. The incident occurred on November 23rd, on the 3200 block of North Waverly at approximately 11:30 PM. The Lansing Police Department needs help identifying a subject that stole a wallet containing close to $1000. The suspect is described as a 20-30 year old black male, approximately 5’11”, heavy set, and last seen wearing a white t-shirt and gray sweatpants. The Lansing Police Department is seeking information related to the burglary of two stores on the 400 block of East Edgewood Boulevard in the city of Lansing. A silver SUV was the vehicle utilized in at least one of the burglaries. The incidents occurred during the early hours of December 9, 2019. The Lansing Police Department needs help identifying a subject broke that into a garage on the 3400 block of West Mount Hope in the City of Lansing. The Lansing Police Department needs help identifying a subject that stole
hundreds of dollars worth of equipment from a local Lansing business. The

The Lansing Police Department needs help identifying a subject that that committed a 4th degree sexual assault on a minor. The incident occurred in the area of South Waverly Road and Hunters Ridge Drive on January 3, 2020. The suspect is described as a 30-40 year old Asian male with short black hair, and is approximately 130 pounds and 5’6” tall. Brown is 44-years-old, 5-foot-9 and 250 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Mr. Brown has a felony warrant for Larceny out of the City of Lansing.

Lansing Police are asking for your help in finding a man they say is wanted on a parole violation and is also a suspect in a burglary.

Ahmad Ross, 37, has been featured in one of our 6 News Crime Stoppers reports last month.

He is also a suspect in a burglary at a south Lansing business.

Ross is described as 5’8″ tall and weighs about 195 pounds.

On January 31, 2020, the Lansing Police Department responded to an armed robbery on the 6800 Block of South Cedar Street. Fraudulent checks have been passed at several banking institutions in the Mid-Michigan area. The accused will break into cars and steal the identity of one person, and then steal checks and credit cards from another. The accused will then fill out the stolen checks in payment to the person whose identity was stolen. The accused then gets someone who looks similar to the stolen identity to cash the checks. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department needs help identifying a subject that has been involved in this fraudulent activity and driving a white Nissan SUV.
